“Becoming an archive of professional design in the Asia-Pacific region” is the mission of the Asia-Pacific Design (APD) since its establishment in 2005, and it has lasted 16 years.

APD believes that instead of talking about the design trends in general, it is better to uphold the concept of equality and to accept the excellent design. APD hopes to use each limited layout to record the voices of different designers, design styles, and design fields, leaving a time-surpassed observation and thinking for the society and design industry.

In 2021, APD will also continue its mission. APD NO.17 will organize several characteristic programs based on the included excellent works to observe the current situation of Asia-Pacific design from different angles. Among them, the “Annual Theme Program” takes “Design Reboots Future” as the theme and records the relevant design works.

Here, APD sincerely invites designers from the Asia-Pacific region to contribute works. APD looks forward to collecting excellent design works and recording the development of the design industry in the Asia-Pacific region together.

■ APD ANNUAL THEME PROGRAM: DESIGN REBOOTS FUTURE

The Asia-Pacific region has undergone dramatic changes due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The existing lifestyle, economic model, and cultural exchanges have encountered varying degrees of impact. The future of mankind and society is waiting for “rebooting.” Meanwhile, new technologies, services, and industries have emerged. As a visual communicator, the designer is meeting new changes. The annual theme program “Design Reboots Future” will discuss with readers how designers in the Asia-Pacific region present their current status and vision through their design works.

RELEVANT DESIGN CONCEPTS & STANDARDS:

1. Whether the design works can integrate into the current local and social thinking of the Asia-Pacific region.

2. Whether they can balance commercial value, design aesthetics, and social responsibility.

3. Whether they can possess unique and advanced thinking and design methods.

■ CONTRIBUTION RULES

□ 1 QUALIFICATIONS

1.1 Designers and design agencies from the Asia-Pacific region are welcome to contribute their works published after January 1st, 2020.

1.2 The design works must ensure originality. The APD editorial department shall not be responsible for any dispute caused by the publication.

1.3 The design works must have actually been produced. The proposal works, students’ course assignments can’t be accepted.

1.4 The entry can be submitted by brand holders, designers, and design agencies from Asia-Pacific region. If the work is created by multiple designers, one of the main creatives can be arranged as the contributor to submit.

1.5 Each contributor can submit at most 10 pieces of works.

□ 2 FILE NAMING

2.1 IMAGE REQUIREMENTS

* In terms of Branding (a), Environmental Graphics (b), Print (d), and Package Design (f), the submitted works should have real shot images.

* 300dpi or above with 150mm or above each side of the single image, within 30 MB per image.

* Images should be JPG or TIF format in CMYK; Logos should be in vector format, such as AI.

2.2 FILE NAMING

* All the submitted materials should be put in one folder named by “Contributor Name + City”.

* Each project’s folder should be named by “Submission Category (Letter Code) + Contributor Name + City + Project’s Title”.

* All the mages for one project must be arranged as A–Z to show the priority. The APD book designers may choose the images freely and trim or reprocess them without permission from the contributors according to the layouts.

* Via QQ Mail’s attachment, wetransfer, dropbox, google drive, cowtransfer, and so on. (If the links or files are encrypted, please attach the password, otherwise, it will be deemed invalid)

□ 4 HOW TO SUBMIT

* Via E-mail: Please name the title by “Contributor Name + City” and send it to apd@sandupublishing.com

■ IMPORTANT DECLARATION

* All submitted works will be judged by the academic consultants and editorial committee.

* Contributors should confirm the accuracy of the contributions and understand the legal obligations. The APD editorial department will not provide any pre-press documents for confirmation.

* The APD editorial department shall not be responsible for any dispute caused by the publication.

* Contributors are required to sign the authorization agreement and with a handwritten signature or stamp. Otherwise, it will be deemed invalid.

* Regardless of nationality, foreign designers located in the Asia-Pacific region are accepted.

* The announcement list will be featured in www.sandupublishing.com, the WeChat public account of APD and Sandu Publishing, and the December issue 2021 of Design 360° Magazine. We don’t accept any inquiry before the announcement.

* Regarding all the works submitted to the APD NO.17, the APD editorial department will have the right to edit, publish, distribute, exhibit, and promote the works.

* Every selected contributor in the APD NO.17 will receive an electronic official inclusion certificate. If the contributor needs a paper certificate,  the APD editorial department can offer the physical version after the publication of APD NO.17. The relevant info will be notified separately.

* Regarding all matters concerning APD NO.17, the APD editorial department will only notify the contributors via email. Please make sure that the email address is in a normal condition.
